Most boxers would agree that boxing is a relationship of love and hate that vacillates in the psyche of just about all who have stepped through those ropes. Let’s face it, we all know the boxing is not fun, but the rewards of a being involved in a good boxing match can be an addiction like no other. The high is hard to beat.  We see the results of this all the time; fighter’s boxing beyond their prime. Through the characters in this boxing book, you will learn to understand these emotions and much more. This boxing book will also give you an in-depth view of the inner city boxing gyms; the platform that gives these young poverty stricken youth the hope they need to escape their poor conditions.

Racism in sports is nothing new, and boxing is just as much about race and social status, as it is about the art of throwing punches.  The great thing about boxing is that once you step through those ropes, it doesn’t make a difference if you are white or black, rich or poor, cop or criminal; the only thing that matters is if you can fight-and that comes from the heart. These are the reason this boxing book, Turning Pro, came to fruition, my love, and hate, for boxing and its culture.  This story was born from many of my experiences.  While it is fictional, many of the plots in this boxing book are triggered from true events that happened to me during this time.  For instance, was I ever told that I could make money in this sport because I was white?  Yes.  Did I overhear a boxing promoter speaking about paying a fighter's manager more money than the fighter, in order to convince his fighter to fight a boxer well above his talent level?  Yes.  Did I experience racial tension in the inner city boxing gyms?  Yes.  Was I ever in a fight where my face was bloodied and so disfigured, I looked like the elephant man?  Yes.

As you read through this boxing book, you will find that there is a certain intellect in boxing.  That fights are not won on pure physical strength. In fact, the mind has to be stronger than the body to succeed in boxing. If it's not, you're playing with fire and will get burned (hurt).  This boxing book will give you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in the real world of boxing.  How boxing effect’s fighters, their families, and their friends.  You'll understand what it is like to be in a fight; the physical abuse a fighter puts his body through, the emotional roller coaster with fleeting thoughts of invincibility to insecurity. This and much more.  If you ever thought about throwing a punch, or just want to learn the proper way of doing so, check out my free boxing tips to understand the boxing techniques for throwing proper punches. I hope you enjoy this book, and if you had already experienced this boxing book, I thank you.  I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Keep your hands up,

Kevin
